Nur Sürer reacts to Farah Zeynep Abdullah's 'Yılmaz Güney' comments: "It is no one's place!"

Veteran actress Nur Sürer was spotted in Nişantaşı the other day. During a brief interview with journalists, the veteran actress was asked about Farah Zeynep Abdullah's remarks regarding Yılmaz Güney, in which she said, "The best walking man of our cinema, rich in terms of wife-beating and types of violence."

"YILMAZ GÜNEY IS OUR RED LINE"

Stating that Farah Zeynep Abdullah "does not interest me at all," Sürer spoke with indignation. The veteran actress said, "It is no one's place to speak about Yılmaz Güney! Yılmaz Güney is a milestone of cinema, that's all. Let them do even a fraction of what he did, and then they can talk. Yılmaz Güney is our red line—the red line of us filmmakers. Of course, I was hurt by these statements."

WHAT HAPPENED?

On the anniversary of Yılmaz Güney's death, author Murathan Mungan shared a post on his social media account saying, "It is the 37th anniversary of Yılmaz Güney's death. Besides being a good director, a good actor, and a good screenwriter, he was the best walking man of our cinema. No one else could ever touch the deepest part of our hearts while looking with sadness by tilting their neck slightly to the side like he did."

Responding to Mungan, Farah Zeynep Abdullah wrote, "Let's say the best walking man of our cinema, shjs, and rich in terms of wife-beating and types of violence, and effective at using weapons." 

Yılmaz Güney's family, reacting to these statements, said, "We will exercise all our legal rights."
