Nuri Bilge Ceylan to be guest of honor at the 20th Akbank Short Film Festival
Nuri Bilge Ceylan will be the guest of honor at the 20th edition of the 'Akbank Short Film Festival,' one of the meeting points of the cinema industry. The famous director's first short film, "Cocoon" (Koza), will also be screened at the festival.
According to the statement made by Akbank Sanat, the 'Akbank Short Film Festival' will be held this year between March 25 and April 4. Nuri Bilge Ceylan will be the festival's guest of honor.
THE FESTIVAL WILL CONSIST OF 9 DIFFERENT SECTIONS
The festival, which received applications from 2,241 short films from a total of 74 countries, consists of 9 different sections titled "Festival Shorts," "Shorts from the World," "Young Perspectives," "From Short to Long," "Experiences," "Documentary Cinema," "Perspective," "Special Screening," and "Forum."
In the screening program, which includes many films shown at world festivals as well as new films making their Turkey premiere, 96 short films and 2 feature-length films from 41 countries will meet with audiences at the festival.
"COCOON" WILL BE SCREENED
Nuri Bilge Ceylan will meet with cinema enthusiasts at the festival where he will be the guest of honor.
In the talk where Ceylan will share his experiences regarding his films and cinematic journey, the famous director's first short film "Cocoon" (Koza) will also be screened.
NAMES SUCH AS GÖKÇE BAHADIR AND DENİZ AKÇAY WILL ALSO BE AT THE FESTIVAL
In the festival's workshop and talk program this year, many artists, including Gökçe Bahadır, Deniz Akçay, Erkan Kolçak Köstendil, Engin Cebiroğlu, Furkan Olgun, Seben Ayşe Dayı, and Zeynep Şölen Yıldız, will share their experiences in their respective fields with participants as part of workshops and talks.
In the Forum section, a Short Film Script Competition will be held to support short films from the idea stage onwards.
In the competition, which received 587 script applications this year, the best script among the 8 finalists will be determined by the festival jury's evaluations.
THE FESTIVAL CAN BE WATCHED ONLINE
The festival, which will be held on both sides of Istanbul this year, will have its European side leg at the Akbank Sanat building and its Anatolian side leg at Moda Sahnesi.
The festival will also be open to all cinema enthusiasts online via the address "filmonline.akbanksanat.com".
