Original illustration for first edition of Harry Potter sold for record price
The original watercolor illustration created for the first edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, the first book in the record-breaking global series, has become the "most valuable Harry Potter item ever sold at auction," fetching 1.9 million dollars.
According to a report by the BBC, the auction house "Sotheby's" stated that the work was expected to fetch between 400 and 600 thousand dollars.
In the statement, which noted that the auction concluded in 10 minutes, it was stated that the original watercolor illustration made for the first edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was sold for 1.9 million dollars.
The statement recorded that the work sold at the auction is the "most valuable Harry Potter item ever sold at auction."
