Oscar-winning writer David Seidler has passed away

Famous writer David Seidler, who was awarded an Oscar for the film The King's Speech, directed by Tom Hooper and starring Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, and Helena Bonham Carter, has passed away.

According to information provided by his manager Jeff Aghassi, the British writer died on Saturday while on a fishing trip in New Zealand.

Aghassi stated the following:

"David was in the place he loved most in the world, New Zealand, doing what gave him the greatest peace, which was fishing."

WHO IS DAVID SEIDLER?

David Seidler was born on August 4, 1937, in England. He was educated at Cornell University. He continued his film career, which he began in 1959, until his death in 2024.

He was known for the productions Tucker and The King's Speech, for which he wrote the screenplays.

Some of the other productions he contributed to include; Another World, Malice in Wonderland, Madeline: Lost in Paris, Son of the Dragon, and Queen of Spades. With his successful screenwriting work, he won the Writers Guild of America Award, the British Independent Film Award, the Academy Award, and the BAFTA Award.

Seidler, who was married twice and had two children, died in New Zealand on March 16, 2024, at the age of 86.
