Prison sentence for Berk Çetin, who assaulted Danla Bilic
The court has announced its verdict in the case regarding the assault of social media influencer Danla Bilic by her former boyfriend, Berk Çetin. Çetin was sentenced to 5 months in prison for intentional injury, but the announcement of the verdict was deferred.
A verdict has been reached in the trial of Berk Çetin, who made headlines following an incident of violence against Damla Aktepe, known on social media as “Danla Bilic.” In the case heard, Çetin was being tried on allegations of threatening Aktepe with death and assaulting her at a sports club in Eyüpsultan.
Berk Çetin, who was tried without arrest, appeared before the judge for the first time at the Istanbul 29th Criminal Court of First Instance. In his defense, Çetin admitted to the crime, stating, "It was something I shouldn't have done; I made a mistake, and I regret it."
The court sentenced Çetin to 5 months in prison for the crime of ‘intentional injury’ but deferred the announcement of the final sentence. Under the ruling, the sentence will not be announced provided that he does not commit a crime during the specified period.
According to information in the indictment, Damla Aktepe applied to the police station following the incident, stating that her former boyfriend, Berk Çetin, had subjected her to violence. Çetin claimed that he had pushed Aktepe in a moment of anger on the day of the incident and denied punching her. However, security camera footage revealed that Çetin had struck Aktepe on her head and face.
It was noted that the investigation was moved to the reconciliation stage, but the parties could not reach an agreement. The prosecution had requested that Çetin be sentenced to between 9 months and 1 year and 6 months in prison for the crime of 'simple injury against a woman'.
