Prison sentence for Kerimcan Durmaz
Social media influencer Kerimcan Durmaz has been sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison in the trial where he was charged with "illegal betting."
A verdict has been reached in the trial of social media influencer Kerimcan Durmaz, who was arrested on January 8, 2025, and released on February 20, 2025, on charges of "inciting illegal betting in a chain manner."
During the hearing held at the Istanbul 23rd Criminal Court of First Instance, Durmaz's lawyer presented a defense, stating that they did not believe his client had committed the alleged crime and requested that the court acquit Durmaz.
1 YEAR AND 8 MONTHS PRISON SENTENCE
Announcing its verdict, the court sentenced Kerimcan Durmaz to 1 year and 8 months in prison for the crime of "encouraging individuals to play fixed-odds or mutual betting or games of chance based on sports competitions through advertising or other means" in a chain manner.
The court also decided to continue the judicial control measure of a "travel ban" for Durmaz.
