An interim decision has been announced in the trial where singer İlyas Yalçıntaş is accused of committing the crime of "insult via audio, written, or video message" against an Iranian woman. The court ruled to grant the parties time to prepare their defense against the prosecutor's opinion and adjourned the hearing.
Singer İlyas Yalçıntaş presented his defense at the latest hearing of the trial where he is being tried for allegedly committing the crime of "insult via audio, written, or video message" against an Iranian woman. The parties and their lawyers were present at the hearing held at the Istanbul 71st Criminal Court of First Instance.

I ADMIT TO SENDING THE MESSAGES
In his defense at the hearing, Yalçıntaş claimed that the complainant, M.H., constantly harassed him and entered his home without permission. Stating that he was under provocation due to this, Yalçıntaş said, "I admit that I sent the messages in question. However, I acted under severe provocation. I request my acquittal."

M.H.'s lawyer, Ali Kemal Atçeken, stated that they did not accept the defendant's defense. Atçeken emphasized that his client had been deported due to the events and that her education had been cut short. He also alleged that his client had been subjected to assault and threats, and requested that the defendant be tried while in custody.
I WAS UNDER SEVERE PROVOCATION
During the hearing, the complainant's lawyers presented a voice recording to the court in which the defendant was heard insulting the complainant. In response to questions from the presiding judge, Yalçıntaş confirmed the voice recording, stating, "I used these expressions under severe provocation."

REQUEST FOR UP TO 2 YEARS IN PRISON
The public prosecutor presented his opinion on the merits during the hearing. He requested that the defendant, İlyas Yalçıntaş, be sentenced to between 3 months and 2 years in prison for the crime of "insult via audio, written, or video message."
The court panel granted the parties time to prepare their defense against the prosecutor's opinion and adjourned the hearing to a later date.
