Rapper Diddy sentenced for prostitution-related crime

World-renowned US rapper Sean Combs, known as "Diddy," who is accused of sexually abusing more than 100 people, appeared before a judge in New York City. Addressing the court for the first time since the trial began, Combs apologized to everyone he had victimized, especially two former girlfriends who testified under pseudonyms. Emphasizing that he deeply regrets his actions, Combs said, "My actions were disgusting and shameful. I got caught up in excess and lost myself in my ego."

Apologizing to his mother and his seven children, most of whom were present in the courtroom, Combs stated, "I am so sorry. They deserved better." Asking the court for a second chance and forgiveness, Combs said, "I ask for your mercy. I have no one to blame but myself. I have learned my lesson."

4 YEARS AND 2 MONTHS IN PRISON AND A $500,000 FINE

Following Combs' statement, Federal Judge Arun Subramanian, who spoke to announce the verdict, stated that they aimed for punishment and deterrence, saying, "Today is about accountability and justice." Subramanian announced that Combs was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months in prison and a $500,000 fine for the crime of "transporting two former girlfriends from one place to another for the purpose of prostitution." Combs' lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, said in a statement after the hearing that his legal team plans to appeal the decision.

Sean Combs, known as "Diddy," who is alleged to have sexually abused more than 100 people, was arrested on September 16, 2024, on charges including "facilitating prostitution, forced labor, kidnapping, confinement, arson, drug possession, bribery, and extortion." In the case filed against him, prosecutors accused Combs of using his fame and extensive business connections to form a criminal organization, sexually abusing numerous people, and forcing former girlfriends into prostitution. Combs was acquitted of "sex trafficking and racketeering" charges in July.
