Release date announced for 'The Sympathizer', featuring Robert Downey Jr. in multiple roles
It has been announced that the series The Sympathizer, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Hoa Xuande, will premiere on BluTv on April 15.
Adapted from Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name, The Sympathizer tells the story of a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy during the final days of the Vietnam War.
The series, which follows the struggle of a man living among a community of South Vietnamese refugees while secretly spying on them, torn between his loyalties and his new life, is described as a spy thriller and an intercultural satire.
Produced by Park Chan-wook and Don McKellar, the cast of The Sympathizer includes Robert Downey Jr., Hoa Xuande, Fred Nguyen Khan, Toan Le, Phanxine, Vy Le, Ky Duyen, Kieu Chinh, Duy Nguyen, Alan Trong, and Emmy Award winner Sandra Oh.
In the seven-episode series, Robert Downey Jr. appears before the audience in multiple roles.
