World-renowned musician Ibrahim Maalouf, who has 17 albums in his artistic career, is returning with an innovative musical project. T.O.M.A., which stands for "Trumpets of Michel Ange," stands out as an adventure that takes us into a world where folklore and modernity meet from philosophical, historical, and musical perspectives.
The famous virtuoso, who has also taken on roles such as producer, composer, and arranger on countless albums released since 2007, will meet music lovers at Istanbul Harbiye Open-Air on May 25, 2024.
WHO IS IBRAHIM MAALOUF?
The Lebanese musician, who plays the four-valve trumpet invented by his father Nassim Maalouf that allows for the playing of quarter tones instead of the traditional three-valve trumpet, is the son of trumpeter Nassim Maalouf and pianist Nada Maalouf, and the nephew of writer Amin Maalouf.
He stepped into his music career at the age of 15 with his successful performance of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 2. A student of Gérard Boulanger, Ibrahim Maalouf has collaborated on many projects to date with names such as Elvis Costello, Sylvia Schwartz, Vanessa Paradis, Vincent Delerm, and Sting.
