Rental electric scooters banned in the German city of Gelsenkirchen

The Gelsenkirchen Administrative Court heard a counter-lawsuit filed by two companies operating in this sector against the city municipality, which had previously banned the use of rental electric scooters citing an increase in the number of accidents they caused.

The court ruled in favor of the municipality, determining that the decision to ban the parking of rental electric scooters on streets and sidewalks starting Saturday, April 20, was in accordance with the law.

THEY WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE STREETS

According to the decision, approximately 350 rental electric scooters must be removed from the city's streets.

The court ruling does not affect the use of privately owned scooters in the city of 270,000 inhabitants.
