Romania's historic Peleș Castle to welcome visitors in 'Turkish'

Information notes and printed materials inside the Peleș Castle, a neo-classical masterpiece, will be translated into Turkish.

The opening and plaque-mounting ceremony was attended by Turkey's Ambassador to Bucharest Özgür Kıvanç Altan, Romanian Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Mustafa Yıldız, and Peleș Castle Director Narcis Dorin Ion. During the program, a plaque was mounted at the museum's visitor entrance following a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

In his remarks, Özgür Kıvanç Altan stated that a special and important project had been brought to life, saying, "The Yunus Emre Institute, which acts as the flag-bearer for our beautiful language, Turkish, continues its activities in Romania. Approximately 300 million people around the world speak Turkish. With this project, everyone visiting Romania from the Turkic world will be able to tour museums and archaeological sites using only Turkish. The foundation has been laid, and Peleș Castle now welcomes its guests from Turkey and Turkish-speaking countries in this language."

'WE WANT TO STRENGTHEN CULTURAL TIES'

Mustafa Yıldız emphasized that they are proud to implement this project, noting, "Seeing our beautiful language, the fifth most spoken and learned language in the world, in the museums and archaeological sites of our Romanian friends, contributing to easier access to information for visiting tourists, and creating a permanent work always motivates us."

Reminding that the first stop on their route was Peleș Castle, built on the initiative of King Carol I, Yıldız added, "Following the printed materials, Turkish will be added to the audio guide service within a month. Our goal is to 'Turkify' major museums and archaeological sites in Romania by the end of 2024. We are building and striving to strengthen the cultural ties between Turkey and Romania with great effort and sincerity."
