RTÜK had launched an investigation: Permits for the TV series 'Kızıl Goncalar' have been revoked!
The permits for two filming locations used by the TV series 'Kızıl Goncalar', which had been targeted by pro-government media and subsequently placed under investigation by RTÜK, have been revoked.
The TV series 'Kızıl Goncalar', broadcast on FOX TV and starring Özcan Deniz and Özgü Namal, has been targeted by pro-government media.
A new development has occurred regarding the series, which has also been targeted by religious communities.
FILMING LOCATION PERMITS REVOKED
Following the recent paint attack on promotional posters in Şişli, Istanbul, which led to increased security measures on set, the series has now had its filming location permits revoked.
According to a report by journalist Birsen Altuntaş, the permits obtained by the Kızıl Goncalar series from the Istanbul Foundations 1st Regional Directorate for two locations have been cancelled.
REASON: PUBLIC PRESSURE AND RTÜK INVESTIGATION
The permits obtained on September 8 and 21 from the Istanbul Foundations 1st Regional Directorate, which operates under the General Directorate of Foundations of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, for two locations have been revoked.
The Directorate announced to the production company, Gold Prodüksiyon Yapımcılık A.Ş., that the filming permits for the Bayrampaşa Madrasa, where the Hanımlar Eğitim ve Kültür Vakfı (HEVKA) is located, and the building of the Istanbul University Faculty of Political Sciences Alumni and Members Foundation (Siyasal Vakfı), both used in the series 'Kızıl Goncalar', have been cancelled, citing public pressure regarding the series and the investigation launched by RTÜK as the reasons. Left in a difficult position by the decision, the production company has begun looking for alternative locations to replace the sets that had been redesigned over months with large budgets.
SET WORKER HAD POSTED
The series was most recently targeted by the İsmailağa community, which stated, “'Kızıl Goncalar' must end!”
A set worker for the series had quoted the community's post on X regarding the show and claimed, “We can no longer enter our main filming locations in Fatih.”
The set worker, who deleted the post after a while, had said:
“Our posters are being defaced, our team members are being attacked… Did telling the truth touch a nerve so much that we, as a team, started fearing for our safety from the very first episode?”
