Sad news from renowned philosopher Noam Chomsky

His former assistant stated that 95-year-old Noam Chomsky's health has deteriorated following a medical incident and that he is unable to communicate.

The famous linguist has not been seen in public since June of last year. His absence from debates regarding the war in Gaza had been particularly noted, especially given his previous support for the Palestinian cause and his vocal criticism of the State of Israel for committing crimes.

It has emerged that it is unlikely the MIT professor will return to public life following the decline in his health.

NOT WRITING, NOT CORRESPONDING, NOT GIVING INTERVIEWS

Professor Chomsky's former assistant Bev Stohl, explained why the famous intellectual no longer responds to emails or gives interviews.

Stohl, who worked as Chomsky's office manager at MIT for 24 years until retiring in 2017, wrote the following: "I am in contact with a close family member and we hope to learn more in the near future. In short, Noam is 95 years old and experienced a medical event in June. As many have noticed, he is not writing, corresponding, or giving interviews because his health condition takes up most of his time and energy. He is still with us, currently watching the news, and he does not seem very pleased with what he is watching."

Sharing further details about the linguist's ability to communicate, Stohl added that he no longer moves or walks:

"His ability to speak is complicated by factors I cannot yet explain. When his relative visited him a month ago, he did not communicate. He is not someone who can stand. I am not sure how long this will last. He is not in pain. His eyes are open and he seems to be watching what is happening around him."

Regarding the period he worked with the world-renowned thinker, "Chomsky and Me, who also wrote a memoir titled ", provided an update in April by writing the following:" "I am sorry to say that Noam has not made significant progress. I doubt he will be able to return to public life because he is not communicating much."
