Sad news: Iranian mountaineer Ekber Helil loses his life on Mount Ararat
47-year-old Iranian mountaineer Ekber Helil has died after falling on his way down from a summit climb on Mount Ararat. Teams have launched an operation to recover the body, which is located at an altitude of 4,300 meters.
According to the information obtained, 3 mountaineers who came to the Doğubayazıt district of Ağrı from Iran began their climb of Mount Ararat 3 days ago.
The mountaineers reached the 5,137-meter summit, but while on their way back down, at an altitude of 4,600 meters, the mountaineer named Ekber Helil allegedly slipped and fell.
DIED AT THE SCENE
Helil, who slid down to 4,300 meters, lost his life at the scene. Upon notification by the other mountaineers who witnessed the incident, gendarmerie, AFAD, and UMKE teams were dispatched to the region.
The teams have launched an operation to recover Helil's body from the mountain by helicopter.
