Safiye Ayla commemorated at her graveside on the 26th anniversary of her passing

Safiye Ayla Targan, one of the leading Turkish Classical Music artists of the Republican era, was commemorated on the 26th anniversary of her passing by the management and students of the Turkish Education Foundation (TEV), to which she was a donor, at her graveside in Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.

Safiye Ayla Targan, one of the unforgettable voices of Turkish Classical Music, and her late husband Şerif Muhiddin Targan were commemorated at their graveside in Zincirlikuyu Cemetery on the 26th anniversary of Safiye Ayla's death.

The memorial ceremony, which took place on Friday, January 12, was attended by relatives of the Targan family, as well as TEV General Manager Banu Taşkın, TEV officials, and scholarship recipients.

'SHE SHED LIGHT ON EDUCATIONAL LIVES'

Speaking at the ceremony commemorating Safiye Ayla, one of the voices most admired by Atatürk and among the most important artists of the Republican era, and her late husband Şerif Muhiddin Targan, TEV General Manager Banu Taşkın stated the following:

"26 years have passed since the death of Safiye Ayla, one of the most elegant artists of Turkish Classical Music, who donated all her assets to support the work of our foundation."

We are very happy to keep the name of Safiye Ayla, who was a source of inspiration with her voice and art, alive through scholarships. Our esteemed donor, who was also a member of the TEV Board of Trustees, has shed light on the educational lives of 1,953 students in need of financial support to date. May she rest in peace."
