Sakura Festival held in Turkey for the first time: Sabancı University to host the event

The "Sakura Festival" will be held for the first time this year at Sabancı University, which houses over a thousand Sakura trees and boasts the largest Sakura population in Turkey, as part of the "Promise to the Future" Scholarship Program.

Sabancı University is bringing the "Sakura Festival," which draws hundreds of thousands of people to Japan during the blooming season, to Turkey. The festival, where over a thousand Sakura trees on the campus grounds will create a harmony of colors, is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Turkish-Japanese relations.

The festival, which will be held on April 2 at the Sabancı University campus, home to Turkey's largest Sakura tree population, will welcome visitors with events dedicated to Japanese culture, celebrations, and a special gala program.

The festival, where the Sakura trees—which symbolize rebirth in Japanese culture—will be adorned with blossoms, will also create a resource to support successful and underprivileged young people studying at Sabancı University under the "Promise to the Future" Scholarship Program in continuing their success.

THE FESTIVAL WILL LAST ALL DAY

As part of the Sakura Festival organized by Sabancı University, which marks a first in the centennial year of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Japan, guests will have the opportunity to view the blossoms of over 1,000 Sakura trees on campus and celebrate the arrival of spring with enthusiasm.

During the daytime program of the all-day Sakura Festival, guests will be entertained by concerts from the famous groups Kufuki and Heart Sutra from Japan, as well as a performance by DJ Salam. Additionally, workshops on origami, ikebana, chado, sushi, and koku will be held, along with kendo demonstrations and traditional tea ceremonies.

The screening of the film "The Boy and The Heron," which marks the magnificent return to cinema by the great master Hayao Miyazaki after a ten-year hiatus, will also be part of the festival program.

SPECIAL PERFORMANCES WILL TAKE PLACE

At the "Sakura Festival Gala Event," the famous Japanese group "WA League" will perform a very special show featuring traces of traditional Japanese culture. Following the group, the stage will belong to one of the most important voices of the new generation, songwriter and composer Cem Adrian.

All proceeds from the ticket sales for the "Sakura Festival Gala Event," which will be conducted via Biletix, will be transferred to Sabancı University's "Promise to the Future" scholarship program.
