Seda Sayan's 'passport' proposal for Istanbul: 'Not too many people will enter, the population will decrease'

Responding to questions about current events on a YouTube program, Seda Sayan supported a comment made regarding Istanbul's increasing population and the extreme overcrowding in public transportation. A citizen who was handed the microphone during the program complained about the density and body odor, particularly in the city's subways, and stated, "People should enter Istanbul with a passport." Sayan drew attention with her remarks regarding this suggestion.

The artist noted that the view in question was not new, stating, "As they say, 'You should issue passports for Istanbul'; our professor Celal Şengör had also said this; people should enter Istanbul with a passport. Not too many people will enter, the population will decrease. Istanbul is such a beautiful place, but there are no Istanbulites in Istanbul; there is everyone else," she said in support.

While emphasizing the beauty of Istanbul, Sayan stated that in the current situation, true Istanbulites are in the minority in the city, highlighting that migration and population growth have affected the city's livability.
