Selma Konak reveals the cause of Volkan Konak's death for the first time: 'I saw his funeral in my dream a month before he died'

Selma Konak, the wife of artist Volkan Konak who passed away last year, spoke for the first time about her feelings following the loss and unknown details regarding his passing. Konak stated that she saw his funeral in a dream one month before her husband's death.

Volkan Konak fell ill while performing in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on March 31, 2025, the first day of Ramadan Feast, and passed away at the age of 58. In accordance with his will, the artist was laid to rest in the family cemetery in the Maçka district of his hometown, Trabzon, under a walnut tree.

Speaking to Emel Özuğur's YouTube channel, Selma Konak expressed her longing for her husband, saying, "There were many times after Volkan died when I couldn't breathe. I still sleep in his undershirt. I haven't washed it; I put it under my pillow and sleep; his scent is still on it."

Selma Konak also shared the dream she had shortly before her husband's passing. Stating that the bond between them was never broken, Konak explained that she saw Volkan Konak's funeral in her dream a month before his death but could not bring herself to tell him.

Stating that the funeral she saw in her dream was very crowded, Konak said she was relieved when she woke up that it was only a dream, but that she experienced the same scene a month later. Selma Konak expressed that some memories in their home also carry deep meaning for her after the artist's death.

Konak explained that the apricot tree Volkan Konak had planted with his own hands had withered, the willow tree he used to sing to while looking at it had changed color and been uprooted, and their beloved dog Vera had also died of cancer, saying, "Many colors went away with him."

Selma Konak also revealed that they had an autopsy performed so that there would be no question marks regarding the cause of death. Stating that according to the report, Volkan Konak did not have a heart attack, Konak said, "We had an autopsy done immediately. So that nothing would remain in doubt... Yes, it is true he passed away on stage. It was not a heart attack either. A clot traveled, the body's electricity was cut off directly. Volkan died and fell."
