Sertab Erener's assessment of the stray animal law: It burns my heart
Singer Sertab Erener shared her thoughts on the AKP's stray animal law. Stating that the bill in question amounts to genocide, Erener argued that shelters are inadequate.
Before her concert, Erener commented on the legislative proposal submitted to Parliament that allows for the euthanasia of stray animals.
Erener spoke as follows:
“Let us do our best for this cause because the burden of this will be on their shoulders. We cannot bear such a thing, and the earth cannot bear it either. We already have so much pain; let us not add this to it.
Please, let us adopt them. Let us know that as individuals, we have a social responsibility regarding this. This law will not work; in other words, great chaos awaits us. Sleepless nights await us. Please, you be a voice too.
Responding to questions from Magazin Burada, Erener said, 'I am calling out to our President: Please, do not let this law pass; let us withdraw the bill. Nothing good will come of this law. I think this is a genocide.'

STATEMENT REGARDING CHILDREN KILLED IN WARS
In addition to these, Erener also spoke about the ongoing wars and the children being killed.
Touching upon the tragedies occurring in many parts of the world, Sertab Erener said:
"People's consciences and their perspectives on life are so different, and what is happening in Gaza and Ukraine is so terrible that these are now indicators of our heartlessness. I no longer believe in people; I have become someone who does not like humanity. We are not heading in a good direction. I have respect for beliefs, but if some things are missing, we cannot get anywhere with faith alone; that is why I say education, and I say nothing else."
