Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was among more than 100 people taken into custody as part of an operation carried out this morning. The list of detainees also includes journalists and figures from the business world.

Among those detained in the operation is former footballer Merthan Açıl, who is married to Kübra Subaşı, the sister of Acun Ilıcalı's ex-wife Şeyma Subaşı.

TENDER ALLEGATIONS AND MERTHAN AÇIL

According to the report in Patronlar Dünyası, one of the 21 companies examined within the scope of the investigation is the advertising company owned by Merthan Açıl. It is alleged that the former footballer Açıl won high-value tenders through the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) with the company he founded in 2019 after working at Acun Ilıcalı's team, Hull City.

It is stated that the company named Creative Medya Reklam A.Ş. received a total of 334 million 718 thousand 500 liras in tenders through the İBB subsidiary Kültür A.Ş. between 2023 and 2024. Moreover, it is claimed that all of these tenders were carried out under the scope of "exception tenders."

On its website, Açıl's company states that it organizes events such as congresses, meetings, fairs, concerts, theater performances, and exhibitions, and provides post-production, advertising, design, and editing services.
