She inspired the Martha character in Baby Reindeer: Massive lawsuit against Netflix!

In the US state of California, a woman named Fiona Harvey has filed a lawsuit against Netflix, accusing the platform of defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and violation of publicity rights.

While Harvey claimed on camera that the character of Scott was inspired by her, she denied the allegations that she was a "stalker." Harvey also denied the claims that she sent Gadd 41 thousand emails, hundreds of voicemails, and 106 letters.

According to the report in T24; in an interview with Piers Morgan, Harvey said, "I don't think I sent him anything. Maybe a few emails, but we were joking, that's all" said.

"BETTER STORIES MAKE MONEY"

The following statements are included in the accusation in which Netflix is also named as a defendant:

"The lies that the defendants told about Harvey to more than 50 million people worldwide include that Harvey is a twice-convicted stalker who was sentenced to five years in prison and that Harvey sexually assaulted Gadd. The defendants told these lies and never stopped because they were better stories than the truth, and better stories make money."

Harvey's lawyers stated that despite the vast financial resources Netflix possesses, it did nothing to verify Gadd's story.

A Netflix spokesperson, in a statement to The Guardian, said, "We intend to defend this matter vigorously and to stand by Richard Gadd's right to tell his story" said.
