She sold a vase she bought for $4 for $100,000 at auction

It was discovered that the vase the woman bought from a local shop was made of rare and valuable Italian glass. Speaking to the New York Times, a woman named Jessica Vincent stated that she thought the vase might be worth a bit more when she bought it.

"I thought it might be a piece worth one or two thousand dollars. But I had no idea how valuable it really was until I did more research," she said.

Vincent noted that she saw an "M" mark on the bottom of the vase and thought it might stand for Murano. Murano, an Italian island near Venice, is one of the regions famous for its glasswork.

Vincent, who began researching the vase online, said that experts informed her that the piece resembled one of the works by the famous Italian architect Carlo Scarpa.

Richard Wright, the owner of the Wright Auction House whom Vincent contacted, stated, "I had a good feeling as soon as I saw the photos."

After it was officially confirmed that the vase was part of the Pennellate series produced by Carlo Scarpa in the 1940s, it sold for $107,100 at the auction.

It was stated that the vase was purchased by an anonymous collector from Europe.
