Singer Gönül Akkor has passed away
Turkish classical music artist Gönül Akkor has passed away at the age of 82 in the hospital where she was receiving treatment in Istanbul.
In a statement shared on the Film-San Foundation's social media account, it was stated, "We wish God's mercy upon singer Gönül Akkor and extend our condolences to her family and loved ones."
Gönül Akkor, who was the older sister of singer Kamuran Akkor, left her mark on an era with her songs.
Born in Istanbul on February 4, 1942, Gönül Akkor began her musical journey as an intern at Ankara Radio and soon gained a wide fan base in both the field of classical music and the world of popular music.
Akkor, who attracted great attention with the records she released, also worked in the field of pop music alongside the fame she achieved in Turkish Classical Music.
Among the songs performed by Akkor, who produced works in various musical genres, are pieces such as "Aşkımıza Ağlıyorum", "Şarkılar Yazdım Sana", "Gönlümün İçindedir", "Tadı Yok Sensiz Geçen", "İntizar", "Bir Gece Ansızın Gelebilirim", and "Duydum ki Unutmuşsun".
