Singer Güzide Kasacı passes away at 94

Güzide Kasacı's daughter Canan Alhasstated that her mother passed away this morning at a private hospital in Istanbul, where she had been admitted for treatment on November 27.

Güzide Kasacı's funeral will be held tomorrow (November 30) following the noon prayer at the Levent Afet Yolal Mosque.

WHO IS GÜZİDE KASACI?

Güzide Kasacı, who was once known by the nickname "Lady Laughter," was born in Istanbul in 1929.

A graduate of Fatih Girls' Middle School, the artist enrolled in the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory in 1951 and completed her studies there in three years.

Kasacı attended classes taught by Münir Nurettin Selçuk, Refik Fersan, Dr. Nevzat Atlığ, Şefik Gürmeriç, Yesari Asım Arsoy, and Mustafa Nafiz Irmak.

The artist, who gained great acclaim for her voice, began releasing solo albums in 1960.
