Singer Hatice Çarpar, known for songs such as “Doyamıyorum” and “Fidayda,” announced that she was defrauded while trying to purchase furniture online. After contacting a seller to buy a console table for her home, Hatice realized that a large amount of money had been withdrawn from her account after she performed a transaction via a link sent to her.
The artist shared her grievance with her followers on her social media account, stating that she lost a total of 270,000 TL for a console table worth 5,000 TL.
I was defrauded in a very big way. I was going to buy a console table from a company. The 5,000 TL console table ended up costing me 270,000 TL. The seller sent me a link. They said, 'You can complete your purchase through this link.' Should I grieve for the money I lost, or for being made to look like a fool? I even spoke with them. They are so calm; I have never seen anything like it.
Following the incident, Hatice went to the police to give a statement and filed a complaint against the fraudsters. Emphasizing that she earns her income through her own hard work, the artist called on citizens to be careful to avoid similar situations.
I am someone who earns every penny I make with the sweat of my brow. Mixing the illicit with the lawful is the work of fraudsters. I have given my statement. I trust the law enforcement authorities.
Hatice's post once again brought to the fore the risks regarding the protection of personal and financial information when performing transactions via links sent by sellers during online shopping.
