Some contracts of Itziar Ituño, who supports ETA prisoners, terminated
Spanish actress Itziar Ituño has had some of her advertising contracts with companies cancelled after participating in a demonstration supporting ETA member prisoners.
Spanish actress Itziar Ituño, known for her role as Raquel Murillo in the series 'La Casa de Papel', participated in a demonstration held in the city of Bilbao on January 13, demanding the release of prisoners affiliated with ETA.
Following the demonstration, BMW Lurauto, one of BMW's sales offices in the Basque and Navarre regions, announced that it had terminated its advertising contract with Ituño shortly after.
'WE ARE SADDENED'
According to the Anadolu Agency, the written statement issued stated, "As BMW Lurauto, we are not affiliated with any political ideology; therefore, we are saddened that the Lurauto image has been associated with any action of an ideological nature."
Spanish airline company Iberia also removed an advertisement featuring Ituño from its social media accounts.
Messages of support were sent to the actress via social media by some of her fans and an association called "Sare", which provides aid to ETA prisoners.
