Spanish chef Jose Andres: 'The Israeli government's indiscriminate killings must stop'

World-renowned Spanish chef Jose Andres stated in a post on his X account that they are "mourning and heartbroken" for the 7 people killed in the Israeli attack, writing: "These are people... angels... I served with them in Ukraine, Gaza, Turkey, Morocco, Bahamas, Indonesia. They are not faceless... They are not nameless."

Calling on the international community, Andres stated, "The Israeli government needs to stop this indiscriminate killing," and continued:

"It needs to stop restricting humanitarian aid, stop killing civilians and aid workers, and stop using food as a weapon. No more innocent lives lost. Peace starts with our shared humanity. It needs to start now."

In a statement regarding the attack, which it called "a tragedy," the aid organization WCK noted that the employees who lost their lives were nationals of Australia, Poland, the United Kingdom, the US-Canada, and Palestine.

ARMORED VEHICLES TARGETED

The statement noted that the team was in two armored vehicles bearing the organization's logo within a de-confliction zone at the time of the attack.

The international aid organization announced that "despite coordinating with the Israeli military, the two armored vehicles carrying its employees were targeted after unloading 100 tons of food aid at a warehouse in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza."

The organization has suspended its operations in the region following the attack.

The non-profit WCK had provided hot meals to earthquake survivors in Turkey in the kitchens it established following the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes.
