Esmersoy, who liked a post by Israeli actress Gal Gadot Varsano that read 'I stand with Israel,' issued a statement following the reactions.

“I am very sad. Every day, I show my reaction as much as I can to this horrific slaughter, the great persecution inflicted upon innocent people, and the immense fear being caused, including the attack on the Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza, where nearly 500 civilians lost their lives and hundreds were injured. Like all well-intentioned people, I have been shattered for days. While grieving over all of this, I woke up to insults this morning. For a long time, I couldn't understand the reason.”
