Statement from Fatih Ürek's manager

Fatih Ürek, who suffered a heart attack at his home last week, continues his struggle for life in intensive care.

Ürek's doctor, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Vefik Yazıcıoğlu, had made the following statement in recent days:

"He fell ill at home. After 112 arrived, his heart stopped. The heart massage lasted 20 minutes. He was intubated when he arrived at our hospital. We immediately intervened to open his blocked vessel. He had a stent procedure 2 years ago. He likely missed his blood thinner medication. We opened his vessel. He no longer has a heart-related problem. In this process, we have concerns about whether the brain remained without oxygen. We are currently keeping him sedated."

When asked, "Are you concerned about the risk of paralysis?", Prof. Dr. Yazıcıoğlu replied, "When the heart stops, problems can occur in the brain after 3 minutes. Even if this duration is 20 minutes, if a good massage is performed, the brain's oxygenation can be fully achieved and he can wake up without any problems. This is our hope. Currently, there is no life-threatening danger in terms of heart and rhythm. We will patiently wait for the brain's functions to return."

The 59-year-old singer's manager, Mert Siliv, provided information regarding his latest status:
