The series Kızıl Goncalar, starring Özgü Namal and Özcan Deniz, did not air last night due to the two-episode broadcast suspension penalty imposed by RTÜK.
Documentaries selected by RTÜK were aired instead.
'WE ARE ON SET, WE WILL CONTINUE FILMING'
The series' director, Ömür Atay, made harsh statements following the censorship they faced.
Atay stated, "Our series did not air. However, there is almost no one from the industry saying 'stop to censorship.' A censorship operation is being carried out against free thought and production. We are on set. We will continue to tell our story and continue filming. Greetings to our audience."
WHAT IS THE PLOT OF KIZIL GONCALAR?
Kızıl Goncalar follows the intersecting fates of Levent (Özcan Deniz), a secular Kemalist, and Meryem (Özgü Namal), who lives within a conservative religious sect, while highlighting the unifying power of motherhood/fatherhood when it comes to "children," despite differences in beliefs and opinions.
Kızıl Goncalar is produced by Faruk Turgut and written by Şükrü Necati Şahin. The series stars Özcan Deniz and Özgü Namal.
