Princess of Wales Kate Middleton stated in a video message released regarding her absence and the claims appearing in the media following her abdominal surgery in January that she has cancer and is undergoing treatment.
Regarding the cancer diagnosis following her surgery, Middleton said, "At the time, it was thought that I did not have cancer. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found that cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment."
