Statement from Selen Görgüzel after release: It is an assassination of character

Six suspects detained in an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Bureau of Investigation for Smuggling, Narcotics, and Economic Crimes were sent to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan after health checks.

Judicial control was requested for suspects Nilüfer Batur Tokgöz and Selen Görgüzel. While the criminal judgeship of peace decided to arrest Tarım, Sağlam, and Alper, judicial control measures were ruled for Yön, Tokgöz, and Görgüzel.

Selen Görgüzel's social media post is as follows:

"Announcement to the public! Despite the public announcements made by my lawyer and press consultant, it has become necessary for me to make a statement myself due to the news that has appeared in the press recently regarding me, which is based on no truth and is humiliating. The sole reason for my statement being taken as part of the investigation conducted against me is the plane journey I took, thinking it was a transportation facility allocated by the hotel I was staying at for its guests, and for which I even shared photos on social media.

I have not the slightest connection to such serious crimes as drugs and prostitution, which I am ashamed to even have my name mentioned alongside. The intentional misrepresentation of the statement I gave to the prosecutor's office to the press and the persistent attempt to place my name side-by-side with these ugly accusations is a planned assassination of character against me. I respectfully inform the public that all necessary legal and criminal proceedings will be initiated immediately against all individuals and organizations that mislead the public with baseless news targeting my honor and personal rights."
