Sunal family files second copyright lawsuit
Kemal Sunal's family has filed a new lawsuit against Gülşah Film, owned by Hülya Koçyiğit and Selim Soydan, alleging that the company broadcast 25 films known as 'Kemal Sunal Films' on television channels, social media, and digital platforms without authorization.
The family of the master artist has taken action, claiming that Gülşah Film has generated high revenue from the films in question despite there being no written transfer of rights from Kemal Sunal.
The family has requested 150 thousand Turkish Lira in compensation for now, and has also filed for an injunction to prevent the films from being broadcast on any television channels, social media, or digital platforms.
ABOUT THE KEMAL SUNAL LAWSUIT
The family of master Turkish cinema actor Kemal Sunal had previously decided to take their 'copyright' lawsuit—concerning the broadcast of films the artist starred in during the 1970s and 1980s outside of theatrical screenings—to the Constitutional Court after the Court of Cassation ruled against them.
