Tarkan issues statement on 'National Team anthem'

The A National Football Team's qualification for the World Cup after a 24-year hiatus has brought with it debates over a National Team Anthem.

Tarkan, who is etched in memory for his "Bir Oluruz Yolunda" (We Become One On Your Path) National Team anthem written 24 years ago and who was among the artists mentioned for a new anthem, has issued a statement.

In a post on his social media account, Tarkan stated, "I am working hard in my studio. Beautiful things are coming. By the way, one of these beauties is not a national team song. I have already written an anthem like 'Bir oluruz yolunda' once, and I have no intention or thought of writing a new one. At least for my part, I do not find such a thing necessary."

'LET US BE ONE IN HEART'

Stating that he does not dwell on whether the anthem he wrote will be used or not, Tarkan used the following expressions:

"Whether some agree or disagree with this, whether others think it is necessary to write a new one or not, whether my anthem is used or not, etc., I do not bother my head with such things at all. It is enough for me that our national team makes us happy and proud with their successes and brings us together as one heart. Anthems, songs, and the like are all just small details. When that day comes, let all the written anthems play. Let us celebrate the success of the national team hand in hand. In other words, let us 'be one' in heart, not just in words, on the path of the national team."
