Tayyar and Özlem Öz couple fined 550 thousand TL for misleading advertising

Social media influencers and beauty center owners Tayyar and Özlem Öz were previously under investigation for 5 separate crimes. This time, the influencer couple has received a fine from an unexpected source.

According to a report by Show Haber, the couple, who are under investigation by MASAK (Financial Crimes Investigation Board) and face ongoing probes into 5 separate charges, were fined 550 thousand TL for misleading advertising. Özlem Öz was fined for promoting that "procedures and operations that should be performed by a doctor were being carried out in beauty centers."

The Tayyar and Özlem Öz couple had previously come to the agenda due to their flashy lifestyle, similar to the arrest of Engin and Dilan Polat. It was alleged that the couple sold products without Ministry of Health approval, had links to FETÖ, and had changed their surnames. In a statement regarding the matter, the couple said, "Our legal department is currently gathering the necessary data. Aside from the surname change, all news reports so far are based on slander and defamation. Of course, there will be a reckoning for these as well. Please do not believe anything you hear. Hopefully, justice will be served. Do not put us in the same category as others."

"OUR CONTENT IS SPOTLESS"

Regarding allegations that they produced the paste they sold for children in an underground facility and were fined due to its ingredients, the couple stated, "There is no fine received regarding the content of our paste. We feed our children this paste every day, and you can too. Rest assured. There is a monetary fine proposed by the Competition Board 6-7 months ago following a complaint by a rival firm. This fine is not finalized; we have filed a lawsuit against it. This was only a fine proposed regarding the way the advertisement was conducted. Other than that, our content is spotless."

"LIES, DEFAMATION, AND SLANDER"

The couple, who changed their surname from Özsefil because they did not like it, also said the following regarding allegations that they were dismissed due to FETÖ links: "The FETÖ events broke out in 2016. In 2016, I was an assistant doctor at Göztepe Training and Research Hospital. I performed many surgeries that day and night. Later, I became a specialist and went to the Siverek district of Şanlıurfa, where I worked for 1 year. Then I came to Ümraniye and worked for 3 years. After working at İlhan Varank Training and Research Hospital for 1.5 years, I resigned of my own volition in 2021. All news reports made regarding this are based on lies, defamation, and slander."
