Teoman's striking remarks on İmamoğlu and Erdoğan

Famous singer Teoman made candid remarks on a variety of topics, ranging from politics to his artistic career.

Speaking to Cansu Çamlıbel from T24, Teoman used striking expressions regarding Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

Describing İmamoğlu as "the only presidential candidate of the future," Teoman stated that he was saying this not as a wish, but as a sociology graduate.

“NO INVITATION FROM ERDOĞAN, BUT IF ONE CAME, I WOULD GO…”

The famous singer responded as follows to the question: "Since Tayyip Erdoğan's time as prime minister, artists have been invited to the presence [of the president] on many occasions, from iftar dinners to July 15 commemorations. Artists who pose for photos with the Erdoğan couple in accordance with the theme of that day—whether it be a celebration or a commemoration—are effectively choosing their side. Among these people are many names from Orhan Gencebay to Bülent Ersoy. Although I don't think there are any rockers. Have you ever received an invitation from Beştepe?"

“It hasn't come, but if it did, I would go. Whoever the President of the Republic of Turkey is, if they invite me somewhere, I will go. But I will never be a man of any side in politics. I was previously invited to Saturday breakfasts while the Kurdish opening was ongoing. That was something else, of course. I am someone who has always expressed my opinions on both the headscarf issue and the Kurdish issue. I went to that meeting because I was invited and because I supported the Kurdish opening.”

Regarding the issue of 'Beyoğlu, especially Istiklal Avenue, becoming a consumption area suited to Arab culture,' Teoman made the following comments:

“If they saw blonde Norwegian children there, they would say 'it's wonderful.' They are devastated when they see dark-skinned Syrians. I know them all; even if they don't say it exactly like that, I know what they are thinking. For me, saying 'everywhere has become Arab' is racism. Of course, I am uncomfortable with the excessive migration to Turkey. These things were done incorrectly and without a plan, and they are still continuing. And there is no remedy for this anymore. A long time has passed, those children have grown up here now. Sending them back would be a bit heartless. Also, all those among us who are uncomfortable with the Syrians want to go to England to be England's Syrians. They don't grant others the rights they claim for themselves.”
