Testimony of arrested Elif Karaaslan revealed: 'My posts do not contain obscenity'
Elif Karaaslan, who was arrested on charges of "obscenity," claimed in her testimony that the posts she made through a subscription system did not contain obscenity, stating, "At most, there might be photos in a bikini." Karaaslan denied the accusations, stating that she does not use drugs and does not attend house parties.
"I have understood the accusations brought against me. I previously worked as a referee affiliated with the TFF (Turkish Football Federation). However, I currently have no official connection. After being banned from refereeing, I filed a lawsuit with the ECHR. I believe that as a result of my case, I will return to refereeing." Karaaslan stated that the Instagram account belongs to her and that she activated the subscription system in 2024.
"THE POSTS DO NOT CONTAIN OBSCENITY"
Karaaslan included the following statements in her testimony:
"In this context, I share posts from my own life with those who subscribe to me. However, these posts absolutely do not contain obscenity. Instagram would certainly not accept content like OnlyFans. Content where a person is completely naked is not shared on Instagram. At most, there might be photos in a bikini here. The intent of the posts made in this context is not obscenity. As I mentioned, the system in question is based on consent."
"I HAVE NOT USED DRUGS, I HAVE NOT ATTENDED HOUSE PARTIES"
Emphasizing that she comes from an athletic background, Karaaslan said, "Because I come from an athletic background, I have never used drugs. I have not attended parties such as house parties. I do not have a nightclub culture. I do not want to provide the passwords to my mobile phone because it contains information belonging to my companies and private family photos. Consequently, I do not accept the accusations brought against me." she said.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the crimes of "purchasing, accepting, or possessing drugs or stimulants for personal use," "encouraging or mediating prostitution," and "facilitating the use of drugs or stimulants," 8 out of 19 suspects detained were arrested. Karaaslan was among those arrested to be tried on charges of "obscenity."
