The 'alimony crisis' between İbrahim Kutluay and Demet Şener escalates

Former basketball player İbrahim Kutluay has filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife Demet Şener, claiming his financial situation has deteriorated and requesting the termination of the 59,000 lira alimony he pays for their son, Ömer. The 'alimony crisis' between İbrahim Kutluay and Demet Şener escalates

İbrahim Kutluay and former model Demet Şener divorced by mutual agreement in 2019. The court had ordered İbrahim Kutluay to pay 30,000 lira in child support for his children.

The alimony Kutluay pays for his two children had reached a total of 118,885 lira, with 59,442 lira and 5 kuruş for each.

Ömer Kutluay, who is a basketball player like his father, transferred to Real Madrid. The club provided a scholarship to Ömer Kutluay, covering his education and accommodation expenses.

İbrahim Kutluay's lawyer, Salim Baki, stated, "All of Ömer's expenses are covered by the club he transferred to. Furthermore, as he has an active professional life, he has the means to support himself. My client also covers all of his health expenses. Considering that the child now has his own income, there is no longer a need for the alimony the mother receives from my client."

'DEMET'S FINANCIAL SITUATION IS QUITE GOOD'

Explaining in the petition that İbrahim Kutluay does not have a regular income because he is no longer active in his basketball career, the lawyer said, "My client lives in a rented house. The process during the marriage and the post-divorce process have changed significantly for my client; he does not have an active basketball career, nor does he have any other profession.

The amount of alimony my client is required to pay far exceeds his current monthly income of 50,000 lira. Demet Şener, who is actively working in acting and modeling, has a very good economic situation. Şener's financial power is greater than my client's.

Considering the economic difficulties my client is in and Şener's financial power, it is against the law for my client to pay alimony to his ex-wife for their children. For this reason, we request the termination of the 59,442 lira and 5 kuruş alimony paid to Ömer Kutluay, or alternatively, a reduction in the alimony."

THE CHILD DOES NOT RECEIVE MONEY FROM THE CLUB

Demet Şener requested the dismissal of the case.

Şener's lawyer, Esra Ceren Üçerler, stated, "It is baseless that İbrahim Kutluay's monthly income is 50,000 lira. On the contrary, İbrahim Kutluay, who owns many real estate properties, earns between 400,000 and 500,000 lira per month from them alone. Ömer Kutluay does not have a signed contract with Real Madrid and does not receive money from this club. In such a situation, it is unacceptable for his father to withhold this support."
