The cola wars are coming to the big screen: 'Cola Wars' movie is on the way!

The long-awaited film will be based on a script known as "Cola Wars" and will focus on Pepsi's attempt to steal market share from an industry giant like Coca-Cola.

The film, which will cover the era known as the "cola wars" of the 1980s, will address the struggle for dominance between Coca-Cola and Pepsi. In addition to unforgettable events such as Michael Jackson's hair catching fire while filming a Pepsi commercial, it will also cover events such as Coca-Cola's attempt to launch New Coke and its rapid withdrawal from the market following a major backlash.

The script is being written by Jason Shuman, co-creator and writer of the Apple TV+ series Acapulco, and Ben Queen, screenwriter of Cars 2 and 3.

Today, Coca-Cola is the number one cola brand worldwide in terms of revenue, while Pepsi ranks second. Coca-Cola owns not only the iconic Coca-Cola drink but also brands such as Sprite, Fanta, and Powerade. Pepsi, on the other hand, owns brands such as Mountain Dew and Gatorade.

Since the project is still in the early stages, Sony Pictures has only purchased the film concept. The script is still being written, and there is no information yet regarding a cast, director, or release date for the film.
