The definitive cause of death for actress Ece İrtem has been determined: Claims of a monkey bite had been raised

Famous actress Ece İrtem, who reached a wide audience with the role of Işıl she portrayed in the series Kızılcık Şerbeti, was found dead by her mother in her home in Kadıköy on June 15.

While many claims were made regarding İrtem's death, it had been suggested that the cause of death was exposure to a monkey bite during her recent time in Thailand.

According to the report prepared by the Council of Forensic Medicine, the definitive cause of death for the famous actress Ece İrtem has been determined.

According to the autopsy report, it was determined that İrtem lost her life due to alcohol poisoning.

The following statements were included in the statement made regarding the matter by Ece İrtem's lawyer, Uğur Gökkoyun:

"It has been understood from the Forensic Medicine autopsy report learned today that the cause of death of my client, who passed away in her home on June 15, 2026, was due to alcohol poisoning.

It was understood from the treatment documents found in her home and the unused, sealed medication boxes that my client had applied to a health facility in Thailand on May 27, 2026, due to a monkey bite, was given a 21-day course of medication, and did not use the remaining medication after 11 days of use; it was deemed useful to share this matter, which was reported to the investigation authorities due to the frequent travel of our citizens to Far East countries, with the public as well.

We assess that my client, who was with her mother in the evening hours on the day of the incident, had consumed alcohol in the time period before she was with her mother."
