The first step from Türkü Akbayram: 'It was hard, it was devastating, but we are getting back up'

Master artist Edip Akbayram, one of the legendary names of Turkish folk music, etched in memory with unforgettable works such as "Güzel Günler Göreceğiz" (We Will See Beautiful Days), "Eşkıya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz" (The Bandit Cannot Rule the World), and "Aldırma Gönül" (Don't Mind, My Heart), passed away on March 2, 2025.

Following a memorial ceremony held at the Harbiye Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall, Edip Akbayram was laid to rest at the Karacaahmet Cemetery after a funeral prayer at the Teşvikiye Mosque. The master artist's passing plunged all of Turkey into deep mourning.

Edip Akbayram's death deeply saddened his millions of fans and fellow artists; however, the greatest blow was felt by his daughter, Türkü Akbayram. Having been by her father's side during his difficult struggle in the hospital, Türkü Akbayram experienced great devastation upon the master artist's passing. Frequently expressing that the pain of losing a father is indescribable, Türkü Akbayram shared her devotion to her father and how difficult it was to bid him farewell with emotional words.

Türkü Akbayram, who is as intertwined with music as her father, announced that she has decided to return to the stage life she had paused following Edip Akbayram's passing.

Sharing a photo from a stage rehearsal on her social media account, which she had been away from for some time, the young artist shared her feelings about this decision with her followers.

'THE LIGHT INSIDE ME HAS GONE OUT'

Drawing attention to the depth of the pain she is experiencing in her post, Türkü Akbayram expressed that despite everything, life goes on and she is trying to face this reality.

In her post, Akbayram stated, "I am at a place where I thought it was impossible to recover or ever be the same again, but where I feel to my core the reality that life goes on—a concept that always felt like a cliché. The light inside me has gone out, and it will not come back, but whatever remains will continue, one way or another... It was hard, quite hard, it was devastating. And yet, we are getting back up, bruised and battered."
