The most loved and most hated soup: Kelle paça!

Areda Piar Research Company's soup survey reveals that kelle paça (sheep's head and trotter soup) is the public's favorite at 24.4 percent, while it also ranks first among soups that people say they would never eat, at 17.7 percent.

Kelle paça also took first place in the category of "soups that are definitely worth going to a soup shop to drink" with 47 percent. The preferred time of day for visiting a soup shop was "at night," chosen by 29.6 percent of the public.

SEEN AS A SOURCE OF HEALING

The research revealed that 80.5 percent of the public in Turkey consumes soup most frequently during the winter season, and 54.9 percent view it as a "source of healing." After kelle paça, the other soups most loved by the public were ranked as follows: lentil soup at 18.8 percent, tripe soup at 10.9 percent, tarhana soup at 9.4 percent, and yayla (yogurt) soup at 7.8 percent.

BLACK CABBAGE SOUP ALSO TOOK ITS SHARE

As part of the research, participants were also asked which types of soup they would never eat. Kelle paça ranked first at 17.7 percent, followed by black cabbage soup at 15.9 percent.

The other types of soup that people said they would "never eat" are as follows:

Fish soup at 15.2 percent, tripe soup at 14.9 percent, lentil soup at 6.9 percent, beyran soup at 4.1 percent, arabaşı soup at 4.1 percent, mushroom soup at 4.1 percent, tomato soup at 3.3 percent, chicken noodle soup at 3.3 percent, ayran soup at 2.8 percent, wedding soup at 1.8 percent, tarhana soup at 1.5 percent, ezogelin soup at 1.3 percent, yayla soup at 1.3 percent, noodle soup at 0.8 percent, and vegetable soup at 0.8 percent.
