US actress Mischa Barton, who rose to fame with the US teen drama The O.C., has revealed that she had a secret relationship at the time with her co-star Ben McKenzie, who was 8 years her senior.

Barton, who was cast in the lead role when she was just 17, said, "I went into it as a virgin and a child, and I felt like I had to grow up very quickly. I was working with older actors and I felt like I was constantly under pressure."

'IT WAS A BIT COMPLICATED'

Barton, who played the character Marissa Cooper in the series, stated that she was in a relationship with her co-star McKenzie, saying, "It was a bit complicated."

Noting that she experienced many firsts in her relationship with McKenzie, who was 25 at the time, Barton pointed out that the couple began dating right at the beginning of the series, adding, "We did that wrong."

Barton added that she decided to break up with McKenzie and that the relationship put a lot of pressure on her.
