The person with the world's longest name... It has exactly 2,253 words
Laurence Watkins has become the person with the world's longest name by extending it to 2,253 words to enter the Guinness World Records.
New Zealander Laurence Watkins legally changed his name in 1990 to enter the Guinness World Records, adding 2,251 middle names. With this change, Watkins' name consists of a total of 2,253 words, making him the person with the longest name in the world.
Watkins' extraordinary endeavor began after he read the Guinness Book of World Records. Working as a delivery driver at a library at the time, Watkins decided to break the "longest name" record and spent days working on names, incorporating thousands of words from A to Z into his name.
However, this record brought some difficulties in daily life and official procedures. Because his full name does not fit on a single page of his passport, six additional pages are used. At his wedding, it took the marriage officer a full 20 minutes to read his name in its entirety.
Watkins notes that having such a long name does not always provide an advantage. Although he encounters problems such as his name not being recognized in official systems, he expresses that he is satisfied with the names he chose. Stating that his favorite names are Kalwhakamatautau and AZ2000, Watkins says that each name holds a special meaning for him.
Although he holds a Guinness World Record, Watkins states that he has not always received the attention he expected, yet he emphasizes that this extraordinary choice makes him happy and that he has a unique story.
