Those who say 'Istanbul emptied out for the holiday' are wrong: A flood of people in Taksim

Taksim Square and Istiklal Avenue, among the most visited spots in Istanbul by local and foreign tourists, were quite crowded on the second day of the holiday.

With citizens who did not leave the city for the holiday also flocking to Taksim and Istiklal Avenue, a veritable flood of people formed on the street.

Citizens strolled along the avenue, and many took plenty of photos, especially in front of the nostalgic tram. Tourists enjoyed both the weather and the holiday while walking around.

'BECAUSE PUBLIC TRANSPORT IS FREE...'

Stating that Taksim is very crowded due to the holiday, simit seller Veysi Maskan said, "Everyone is here. Because public transport is free for the holiday, it is very crowded here. We are working too."

'HOLIDAY MEANS ABUNDANCE'

Stating that they are working during the holiday to serve the public, doner kebab seller Hayri Taş said, "We are on duty again during the holiday. Since our business is street food, whether we want to or not, we are working this holiday to serve the public. Thank God business is good, health is better than this. May God not take away what we have seen. There is movement during the holiday. Movement means abundance. Holiday means abundance."
