Threw a glass, marriage ended: She will pay 20 thousand lira in compensation
A divorce case was heard in an Istanbul Family Court between a man named M.A. and a woman named G.A. due to incidents of violence. The court found the woman, who threw a glass at her husband in front of guests and subjected him to constant psychological violence through humiliation, to be heavily at fault.
In a case filed at the Istanbul Family Court, a man named M.A. and a woman named G.A. were married in 2018. It was alleged that the couple, who had no children, experienced problems throughout their marriage. M.A. claimed that his wife, G.A., constantly insulted him and engaged in demeaning behavior.
A GLASS ENDED THE MARRIAGE
The incident that ended their marriage occurred during a visit. According to the allegations, G.A. made mocking and humiliating remarks toward her husband, M.A., in front of guests who had come to their home. G.A., who did not pay attention to her husband, later became angry and threw a glass at M.A.'s head. M.A. filed for divorce due to both his wife's negative attitude toward him and her failure to fulfill her marital responsibilities. He also demanded 5 thousand lira in alimony and 250 thousand lira in non-pecuniary damages.
COURT FOUND THE WIFE AT FAULT
In court, G.A. denied the accusations, arguing that her husband was slandering her. However, after a trial that lasted approximately one year, the Istanbul Family Court found G.A. at fault and decided to divorce the couple. The court ruled that G.A. must pay 20 thousand lira in non-pecuniary damages to M.A. on the grounds that she constantly insulted and humiliated her husband.
