Travel ban for Mabel Matiz, access block for his song
Mabel Matiz has faced obscenity charges due to his song 'Perperişan' and has been issued a travel ban.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, upon the request of the Ministry of Family and Social Services, has launched an investigation into Mabel Matiz's song titled 'Perperişan' on allegations of obscenity. The famous artist provided a statement within the scope of this investigation, and a travel ban was imposed on him.
On September 18, an access block was imposed on the song on the grounds that it could harm the family structure and negatively affect the mental development of young people. The Ministry stated that the song could disrupt public order and cause public outrage.
Mabel Matiz's lawyers emphasized that the artist has been a beloved figure in society for many years, arguing that the song does not contain any implications directed at children. The lawyers requested the removal of the ban due to the artist's upcoming concerts.
In a statement made via social media, the artist noted that his songs are inspired by various aspects of life and that listeners can find their own meanings. Matiz stated that the song tells a love story inspired by the folk literature tradition.
