The Turkish public is giving up on walking! Walking map investigated

A research company conducted a study titled 'Walking Habits of the Turkish Public'. According to the results of the study, a decrease in the walking duration of participants is observed. When comparing 2023 data with 2024 data, it emerges that there is a decrease in the daily walking duration of participants. While 39.3% of participants stated that they walked for more than an hour a day in 2023, this rate fell to 32.9% in 2024.

According to the research, 32.9% of those who participated in the survey conducted with 2,024 people across Turkey walk for more than an hour a day. 26.6% stated they walk for more than half an hour, 14.3% for less than half an hour, and 26.3% stated that they do not walk much during the day.

When the research's data from previous years is examined, the following results emerge: While the rate of those who did not walk much in 2022 was 25.3%, this rate fell to 24.1% in 2023. The rate of those who walk for less than half an hour a day was 18.5% in 2022, and it dropped to 15.7% in 2023. The rate of those who walk for more than half an hour was 25.9% in 2022, and it fell to 20.8% in 2023. The rate of those who walk for more than an hour was measured at 30.3% in 2022, and at 39.3% in 2023.

33% OF WOMEN WALK FOR MORE THAN HALF AN HOUR

According to gender distribution data, the research shows that men walk more than women. While 42.7% of men stated that they walk for more than an hour, 23.2% of women expressed this duration. The situation differs for those who stated they walk for more than half an hour a day. While 19.7% of men walk for more than half an hour, 33.3% of women expressed this duration.

When looking at the age distribution of the participants in the research, 18.3% of those in the 18-34 age range stated that they do not walk much during the day, while 12.4% walk for less than half an hour; 39.7% walk for more than half an hour, while 29.6% walk for more than an hour. 29.5% of those in the 35-54 age range do not walk much during the day, while 11.8% walk for less than half an hour. 20.9% walk for more than half an hour, while 37.8% walk for more than an hour. 32.2% of participants aged 55 and over stated that they do not walk much during the day. 20.1% walk for less than half an hour, 17.5% for more than half an hour, and 30.2% walk for more than an hour during the day.
