The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has released the 2024 State of World Population Report. The report states that the world population has reached 8.119 billion and that the population of India is 1.441 billion. It was noted that India has surpassed China, which has a population of 1.425 billion, to become the world's most populous country.
DECLINE OBSERVED IN CHINA
The report states that improvements in socio-economic conditions and a decrease in maternal mortality have been effective in India's population growth. On the other hand, China's population began to decline after reaching 1.426 billion in 2022, and experts estimate that China's population will fall below 1 billion by the end of this century.
